Mimesis Landing

About us

Mimesis Landing is run by the founders of Mimesis Ventures, a software company in Singapore. We're setting up our own company in Shanghai now, and we've turned what we're learning into a service for other founders.

Why we exist

Our own company came first.

We're setting up a company in Shanghai for our own business, from zero. We had no contacts there and no Chinese phone number, and the policy documents we needed exist only in Chinese.

China's parks do offer real support to foreign founders. But the offers are made by phone and WeChat, in Chinese, and often only out loud. So we compared the parks, sat in the calls and learnt which offers hold up once they're in writing.

Mimesis Landing is that work, offered to other founders. We do for you what we're doing for ourselves, and we tell you plainly what we know and what we're still finding out.

Scope

What we do, and what we don't.

What we do

  • Talk to parks and government offices for you, in Chinese
  • Compare offers and get the one you choose in writing
  • Register your company, open its bank accounts and register it for tax
  • Apply for work and residence permits for you and your staff
  • Run your payroll and monthly tax filings, with a licensed partner keeping your books
  • Explain every step, document and decision in English

What we don't do

  • Give opinions on PRC law. Those come from partner law firms, because foreign firms can't advise on it.
  • Keep your books under a licence we don't hold. A licensed bookkeeping partner does.
  • Take a percentage of any grant or subsidy you receive.
  • Promise what a park will give you. We tell you what's on offer and get it in writing.

How we work

How we work with you.

  • 01

    Fixed fees

We agree a fixed fee with you before we start. We never take a percentage of government money.

  • 02

    Offers in writing

Parks often make offers by phone. We get every offer in writing before you sign anything.

  • 03

    Licensed partners

Where the law requires a licence, a licensed partner does the work: bookkeeping, PRC legal advice and statutory audit.

  • 04

    In English

Every call, document and decision is explained to you in English.

Not sure where to start?

Tell us what you're building. We'll tell you which city and park fit, what you could get there and what it takes.
